Finsbury Glover Herring (FGH), a leading strategic communications and government relations firm, is seeking a talented and collaborative Motion Designer to join the firm's Creative Studio Division based in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. The ideal candidate is passionate about all things video and motion graphics, and how they communicate to the world. The ideal candidate has a strong background in 2D animation, is detail-oriented, genuine, curious, and loves working on a close-knit, collaborative team of creative professionals, including writers, UI/UX specialists, technologists, and producers. RESPONSIBILITES
• Create motion design pieces for a wide variety of clients and formats primarily in 2D
• Animated Banners
• Short and medium length explainer videos
• Social Content
• Ability to design for motion while collaborating with other animators on the video team
• Ability to assist with video editing and other aspects of the postproduction workflow
• Employ design thinking to advance creative output throughout the organization, partnering with account teams as a thought-leader for high-stakes engagements
• Interact with internal account teams and clients, understanding the challenges at hand and developing design strategies to achieve client goals
• Individually and collaboratively brainstorm, design, refine, and execute using current design and technology best practices
• Collaborate with design team on process, efficiencies and communication to best achieve successful work assignments
• Create design solutions and be confident using your skill sets on a range of projects from explainer-style, to documentary and narrative work
• Present ideas clearly and compellingly to internal account teams and clients
• Provide accurate time and hour estimates to creative producers on new projects and assignments and proactively meet time estimates and schedule deadlines
• Pursue learning and growth opportunities
• A minimum of 5 years of experience
• A demonstrated portfolio of successful work, primarily in 2D
• Possess a strong understanding of user-centered design principles, excellent visual design skills and solid technical know-how. You should also be a problem-solver with the ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure.
• A solid understanding of digital media as well as the marketing industry at large; an ability to adapt and stay current with the changing landscape of technology
• Experience taking ownership of assignments from start to finish and with confidence at all levels
• Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and interpersonal
• Solid background in the following disciplines:
• Motion Design
• Solid knowledge of the latest versions of applicable programs; Adobe Creative Suite CC (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), and Cinema 4D. DaVinci Resolve and video editing is a plus
• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite to ensure effective interaction with in-house account teams in the agency
• Knowledge of Mac OS X
• Foundational background in the following disciplines desired:
• Animation for UI/UX
• Bodymovin AE to HTML5 workflow
