The Department:

The UK digital department scopes, designs and delivers engaging and high quality online experiences for global brands. We work in collaboration with creative and strategic agency partners to create meaningful digital communications aimed at a global customer base. Hogarth Digital is a team of experts looking for an enthusiastic technical lead for the UK oversight team. You will find the department a friendly, vibrant and dedicated team - focused on delivering for our clients.

About you:

You have an in-depth knowledge of current and emerging DCO technologies. You understand best coding practices and can communicate these to your colleagues and fellow project members.

You are embedded in the community, contributing to community projects, attending (and preferably) hosting community events. You ideally maintain a network of skilled contacts in the community. You are a confident champion of this technology.

The Role:

We are looking for a passionate leader and technical champion. As a Technical Lead, you will report directly to the Head of Technology, lead large-scale implementations, utilizing CMS tools and other open source platform tools. Providing both oversight and hands on contributions to the software design, development and integration process. Technical Leads are expected to take the Team Lead role and assure the technical quality of projects. They will also get opportunities to mentor new developers, work with delivery stakeholder and support pre-sales team as needed.

Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen, understand, advocate and persuade are essential as you will be managing teams of skilled developers across the globe in a remote fashion. You will work with Hogarth and partner organisations to define the optimum technical approach for client projects and ceaselessly promote best practice, quality and craft in your code and the code of those you lead.

You will manage a team of highly skilled developers ranging from Graduate to Senior level, implementing and maintaining development practices, running meetings and workshops that ensure the growth, motivation and continued development of the team, and ultimately take

Key Responsibilities:
  • The ideal candidate must be able to work both independently and as a lead to help mentor / train other developers so that over time they improve their knowledge
  • Can single-handedly manage proof-of-concepts or complex developments, develop client roadmaps and solutions
  • Translate functional requirements from business users into sound technical designs that meet business objective
  • Peer and off-line code reviews - Experience with reviewing code to flag complex performance and security issue
  • Develops code that meets business /user requirements, quality, security and accessibility standards
  • Develops and conducts test plans including user acceptance test planning and execution
  • Meets project objectives within specified time frame parameters and defined requirements
  • Responsible for various aspects of ongoing support and maintenance
  • Shown capability of breaking down a problem into discrete, actionable items; identifies risks; notes assumptions
  • Takes technical responsibility for all stages in the software development process.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and developers to manage the project and ensure smooth execution
  • Help Team to foresee technical risks and come up with Mitigation plan

Secondary responsibilities:
  • Support pre-sales team and work on business proposals and project estimates
  • Hands-on development, coding as needed with the team - although, as an oversight role, it's not generally expected
  • Experienced with grooming stories with implementation details

General requirements

Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Strong experience with HTML and CSS3.

Strong experience in hand coding and debugging vanilla JavaScript

Strong knowledge of animation techniques - via JS or CSS.

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite especially Photoshop and Illustrator

Proficiency development of JSON and compliant XML

Examples of previous work demonstrating ability to create Interactive HTML5 assets

Experience of optimization principles and techniques (image optimization, code minification, font subsetting etc)

Proficiency with the main Ad Serving platforms such as DoubleClick, Flashtalking, Sizmek, AdForm and Celtra.

Experience creating animations using 3 rd party JS animation libraries such as Greensocks (GSAP) and createJS.

Demonstrable experience of De-bugging

Experience implementing coding standards and best practice

Understanding of W3C Standards and cross-browser/device issues and code solutions.

Creation and use of Spritesheets.

Experience of responsive development.

Previous experience building dynamic banner campaigns across a variety of Ad Servers.

Knowledge of DCO targeting optimisation and trafficking approaches for display advertising (placement/audience id's, GEO etc).

Experience with using Google Sheets and MS Excel as content feeds

Experience using multiple data sources for dynamic campaigns. For example, product endpoints in combination with spreadsheet feeds.

Expert knowledge of Git

Experience with timeline-based IDE's such as Adobe Animate and Google Web Designer

Knowledge of dynamic VAST and VPAID video ads

Knowledge of IAB digital advertising standards and guidelines

SCSS/SASS and task runners such as GULP

Agile working practices

Understanding of atomic design principals

Sketch

Ad server, DSP (DV360) certifications

Experience of Email development

Handlebars

Experience of identifying and deploying methods to automate tasks such as script based automation using Adobe, HTML, Excel

Familiar with Moving Image tools such as Adobe AFX
