The Role Context

This is a unique opportunity to lead an exceptional team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers and drive agency innovation roadmap into the future. You will be able to shape and execute on all agency data and tech initiatives - working with industry leading technical partners (Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, etc.) to deliver value to agency clients.

About you

To be successful in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate:
  • Hold a degree or demonstrate background in a subject related to Data Science (mathematics, computer science, etc); be numerate, data savvy and have demonstrated a thorough and methodical approach to problem solving in your career to date
  • Demonstrable prior experience in data science and experimentation
  • Experience of working in a data-related market (e.g. analytics, business intelligence, big data)
  • Thorough understanding and experience with front end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery ) and/or back end (Java, PHP, Ruby on Rails, Python, and .Net) programming languages
  • An expert in digital marketing and analytics - know how to "read" data, not just look at it
  • An understanding of Cloud Platforms offerings (Google Cloud Platform / Azure)
  • Thrive in a dynamic and changing environment, be highly organised and able to prioritise effectively.

About the role

In this role you'll be responsible for:
  • Responsible for the overall data innovation strategy and tangible project delivery
  • Provide data innovation expertise to support and grow team members, provide hands on support on all relevant areas to support data scientists and data technologists
  • Demonstrate innovative forward thinking and facilitate effective brainstorming
  • Help grow Data Innovation capacity; working with other Precision teams to evaluate and prioritising the project pipeline.
  • Effectively manage team and project resources to ensure timely and appropriate delivery (following Agile methodology)
  • Act as an agency Data Innovation liaison for both internal client/account teams and vendors, distilling complex and articulating clearly to a range of stakeholders - both technical and business.

About the team

The Data Innovation team sits within a core cross-client, cross-functional department that brings together all Wavemaker technology, data and platform capabilities under one unit: Wavemaker Precision.

The core responsibilities of the Data Innovation team are as follows:
  • Identify and translate insights from data into effective company/client products and services
  • Work across a range of internal teams to support innovation and product creation
  • Harness innovation within Wavemaker, enable internal sparks of innovation and solve business challenges via the use of data analysis, manipulation and visualisation
  • Grow and promote Wavemakers modelling capability across the Precision department - from statistical modelling to machine learning and artificial intelligence
