Purpose of Job:


The Group Account Director is responsible for overall management and leadership of agency Search, Social, eCommerce and performance teams that support a wide variety of accounts. The Group Director will maintain constant communication with the team leads within the agency and across the GroupM Canada network, as well fostering the career growth, management skills and expertise for the next generation of data-driven search, social, eCommerce and performance specialists that support planning and buying of biddable media.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in biddable media, ecommerce, process development, team growth, and leadership. We are looking for a highly passionate and dynamic media professional keen on expanding their understanding, skills and experience within the agency search and social space.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic Client and Agency Relationships
  • Identify business opportunities for new/existing clients within the agency
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and performance metrics of client campaigns
  • Work with clients and agency leadership to uncover business needs and objectives, build appropriate strategies, and identify/implement services to help achieve client goals
  • Provide strategic input to manage and develop campaigns with various strategies, such as, prospecting, remarketing, contextual targeting to meet client goals
  • Develop, maintain and refine trusted relationships and service levels that bridge key client and agency stakeholders
  • Proactively identify and solve client risks before they escalate
  • Ensure best practice optimization approaches to meet team objectives as well as workflows with internal groups
  • Base all decisions on empirical data using appropriate analytical techniques and with a strong appreciation of where assumptions are being made

Strategic Leadership
  • Demonstrate thought leadership for your clients, agency partners and the overall industry
  • Educate clients on the importance of search, social and eCommerce while ensuring integration in holistic media plans
  • Understand clients' business and generate new ideas to enhance client performance
  • Provide effective analysis to support marketing recommendations
  • Build trust, credibility, and client referrals
  • Assist clients define their performance marketing approach to achieve business results
  • Develop Search, Social, and e-Commerce strategies, forecasting, and planning for key accounts
  • Manage project plans, scope of work, and timelines to ensure deliveries

P&L Accountability and Business Development
  • Own team's P&Ls within GroupM agency
  • Identify and improve account profitability, billings and revenue with agency partners
  • Collaborate with agency partners to identify and develop new client sales proposals
  • Manage budgets and re-forecast as necessary
  • Develop and present performance media strategies for new business pitches
  • Collaborate with account leads to identify opportunities for SEO, Content, e-commerce, and other biddable media

Coaching, Training, Mentoring and Team Growth
  • Lead activation team on campaign management and optimizations to achieve KPIs
  • Developing staff plans and monitoring hours to ensure client focused service levels
  • Fostering professional development through coaching and mentoring

Brand Management and Communications Planning
  • Assist in the branding of the agency as the authority in the industry through collaboration in planning and participation our marketing efforts.
  • Drive visibility and positive reputation of the agency through participation in industry events, associations, speaking engagements and other networking opportunities.

Skills and Behaviour:
  • Proven leadership, account management, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated track record of client relationship development and service
  • Strong knowledge or experience account management/coordination, buying, client/campaign strategy, and media planning
  • Proven ability to lead successful campaigns
  • Superior verbal and written skills with outstanding presentation ability
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills

Education and Experience
  • 6+ years of related industry experience, preferably agency
    • SEM, Paid Social, eCommerce required
    • SEO and Programmatic nice to have
  • 5+ years of demonstrated strong client relationship responsibility
