Job Title: Manager , Planning

The Manager joins a department of part psychologists, part scientists, part artists, part entrepreneurs, and part politicians. We strategize how brands should communicate with people across the myriad of media channels, and how to do that differently from every other brand.

You will assist in the planning, implement ation, and maintenance of holistic , cross-channel media campaigns with the ability to assist in both the higher-level strategy as well as the execution of a media plan. You will manage direct client relationships as well as train and manage Planners and Associates in all media planning functions.

Th is Manager of Strategic Planning, in partnership with the Director or Associate Director of Strategic Planning, is responsible for managing client relationships on the MD Anderson Cancer Center and SCANA Energy account s. You will support the accounts in ensuring the cross-discipline integration and process flow throughout Strategic Planning, Investment, and Analytics groups while working closely with th e clients' interagency team partners.

While reporting to and supporting the Director and Associate Director on larger client relationships, you should be able to act with autonomy and own certain smaller client relationships. Underpinning those two qualities should be the ability to coach and teach the more junior team members to encourage constant growth and foster a positive working environment.

You will be the heart of the team; mentoring and growing more junior members, leading point on the coordination of all day-to-day tasks and helping workstreams stay on track.

YOUR IMPACT:

Plan Development and Maintenance
  • Demonstrate understanding of Clients' businesses as a basis for all future work
  • Partner with the Director/ Associate Director on all aspects of plan development and recommendations
  • D evelop target audiences and appropriate channel approach and budget allocations through research and application of tools
  • Develop , author, and maintain the strategic media plan as well as present media strategy recommendations directly to client leads and clients directly
  • Provide clients with strategic points of view
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all appropriate research tools
  • Provide research and analysis to manage various issues that arise in the execution
  • Maintain and communicate up-to-date records of the implementation of the plan
  • Stay current of industry news and trends and any target market industry trends that impact Clients' businesses


Team Management and Leadership
  • Manage direct client relationships
  • Manage day to day client and interagency requests autonomousl y
  • Provide day-to-day direction to internal implementation groups for the strategic media plan
  • T rain and manage planners and assistants in all media planning functions
  • Supervise, guide, and counsel planners and/or associates on all day-to-day activities
  • Think of new solutions to your work/ client challenges
  • Develop innovative ways to present the team's work


Account Management
  • Provide insightful updates to media and agency partners on the status of all account projects
  • Initiate appropriate cross-functional client meetings
  • Assume ultimate media financial accountability with Client Finance and internal departments
  • Attend and participate in Client/Agency meetings

YOUR VALUE:

The Manager of Strategic Planning is a position that requires excellent organizational and project management skills; both internal and in client-facing workstreams. You should have the ability to manage many projects and individual clients at once to meet deadlines, including delegating and managing the outputs of direct reports/other Mindshare teams/third parties within projects.

You are an effective communicator and a proven problem-solver. You have the confidence and experience to tackle fundamental marketing and media challenges quickly and effectively .

Develop and maintains client relationships from mid-level day-to-day to CMO.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 4-5 years' experience working within strategy/planning, preferably within a media agency setting
  • Broad background; experience working across all media channels (digital and traditional) in both national and local geographies
  • First-hand experience in the entire research, media planning and implementation process
  • Adaptable to multi-tas k and work successfully with multiple teams (internal and external)
  • Strong leader; demonstrate a uthority in cross-agency situations
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional critical thinking and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Completely proficient in Microsoft Office and related tools: Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint (Teams) , etc.
  • Media/ Digital related tools: MediaOcean ( Prisma is preferred ) , Telmar , Kantar strategy, comScore, etc.
