YOUR ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

The Studio Assistant is embedded in Hogarth's bespoke Woolworths Content team and is located in Alexandria.

The role is responsible for the management and set-up of resources in our Woolworths Production Studio, ensuring the studio functions effectively, the space is presentable and enjoyable to work in.

With an understanding of the content production process, and ideally a background and interest in motion and photography, the Studio Assistant will be motivated, results orientated and be confident in using good judgement in all decisions and actions and is committed to delivering on all tasks that have been delegated to them.

Working with a team of industry experts, the role represents a great opportunity for an aspiring photographer to gain shooting experience in a high-end environment and exposure to experienced mentors. Interest in food + food media a must.

The Studio Assistant reports to the Content Lead, and works closely with Photographers, Producers and Production Manager.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

MANAGING RESOURCES
  • Ensure all photographic equipment and kitchen appliances are accounted for and always in good working order
  • Set maintenance, facilitate storage, repurpose and disposal
  • Ensure studios are tidy and safe and ready to use before and after every shoot
  • Monitor studio consumables stock & purchase more as required. e.g. foam core, gaff tape, blu-tack, pins etc.
  • Ensure that freelance food preps are leaving the kitchens and equipment in a suitable condition and support where/when needed
  • Monitor pantry stock level and re-stock as required
  • Fridge management, including produce clear-out and cold space management/ optimisation
  • Liaising with local charity for fresh produce donations
  • Emergency ingredient shopping runs

SHOOT SET-UP & ASSISTANCE
  • Assist Photographers & Shooter/Editors in the coordination of motion and photography shoots
  • Emergency assistant duties - to have a body on the floor that can help when an unexpected situation requires two people to set up
  • Support across workflow using Capture One software
  • Manage the set up/testing and clear up of equipment on set
  • Database and asset management
  • Manage gear room and equipment hires


ABOUT YOU
  • Excellent communication and time management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise simultaneous demands and adapt / respond appropriately.
  • Experience working within a Front of House / Reception environment, ideally in a creative, production or advertising based business
  • Able to assist the Set Manager in set-up and break-down of large sets and props, paint and construct sets in studio.
  • Proficient in EXCEL and able to help manage spreadsheets, schedules and data; Exceptional attention to detail.
