WPP Shared Service Centre (SCC)

The WPP SCC provides transactional financial services to WPP companies in the UK, including:
  • Accounts Payable, including Intercompany transactions
  • Accounts Receivable (Billing, Credit Control & Cash Allocation)
  • Treasury
  • Accounting and Reporting
  • Statutory Reporting

By consolidating activities, the WPP SCC takes advantage of volume to deliver increased efficiency. This is achieved by standardising, streamlining, and aligning relevant processes, and introducing tools and technology to drive effectiveness across our operations. By taking over transactional financial activities, the WPP SCC enables our agencies to focus on commercial activities, client management as well as revenue and cost management.

In 2021, the WPP SCC UK organisation transferred specific process and transactional activities to the WPP SCC in India. The WPP SCC teams in the UK and India work together to provide services to WPP companies in the UK.

What you'll be doing:

The Accounts Receivable Department consists of Credit Control, Cash Allocation and Media Billing teams. The Media Billing team is responsible for billing between £300-400m worth of Media billing each month, across 1300 external clients as well as intercompany accounts on behalf of several agencies within the WPP Group along.

In this role you will work closely with both WPP companies and their clients to ensure monthly billing practices are put in place to enable an efficient and successful order to cash process, and to provide a high standard of administrative support.

This role will report into a Senior Billing Analyst.
  • Responsible for end to end, bill to pay for a group of key complex customers. Manage billing activities to ensure billing for those customers is complete, accurate, in the required customer format and is submitted in a timely manner.
  • Attend client meetings to discuss billing and cash collection reviews.
  • Support WPP SCC India billing team, to ensure they work effectively with internal and external customers on billing queries, supporting documents, contractual changes, client liaison, prospective sales, and timely cash collections.
  • Support WPP SCC India to ensure service delivery is maintained in accordance with the Target Operating Model and documented Service Levels and KPI's and identify areas of success and areas of concern.
  • Support and assist with SOX audits as well as other internal/external audits.
  • Work with the Senior Billing Analyst to onboard clients and work with agencies to exit clients. In addition, support with testing, implementing, and documenting process improvements.


What you'll need:
  • Excellent communication skills - able to communicate effectively both internally and externally, verbally and in writing, as well as at different levels of an organisation.
  • Commercially focused with a proactive service-oriented approach.
  • Able to build and maintain strong internal and external working relationships.
  • Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office), particularly with Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Managing of own workload and collaboration with your team to ensure consistent service levels.
  • Good understanding of general accounting principles relating to the sales ledger and experience in client billing.
  • Role will require occasional travel to various WPP companies (the are also based in central London).
  • There may also be a requirement to work additional hours occasionally due to tight deadlines and month-end processes.
  • Ideally AAT qualified or working towards an accounting qualification.
