WPP is on a global transformation journey for its accounting and finance departments. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team with a great learning environment. We are looking for a Manager to join the Group Financial Reporting team at London Corporate Headquarters.

What you'll be doing:

The Financial Reporting Manager is a key player supporting our monthly and quarterly accounting and consolidation functions as well as work on the accounting for ad hoc transactions and projects involving the tax, treasury and other group finance functions as well as the operating companies of WPP.

This role reports into the Senior Manager, Group Financial Reporting and will involve both supporting and assisting the team where applicable. The role will be focused on looking after the topside P&L adjustments for the group, understanding the entries and posting these into the finance system. Providing analysis of these adjustments and responding to queries from senior management will also be required. This role may also involve reviewing the work of more junior team members. WPP follows International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The team's responsibilities include:
  • Assisting with the Group's consolidation, involving a large number of companies across multiple jurisdictions and currencies.
  • Understanding and posting P&L topside entries for flash, actuals, forecast, budget reporting cycles.
  • Driving improvement in the Group's consolidation processes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of published financial information e.g. production of Group's year-end and interim results and accounts.
  • Assisting in production of other consolidated Group results and accounts.
  • Supporting the tax, legal and treasury departments in implementing long-term tax planning initiatives and working capital management.
  • Performing analysis and responding to queries from senior management.
  • Monitoring compliance with appropriate WPP Reporting and Accounting Policies and Sarbanes-Oxley Act;
  • Working within a highly collaborative team and fast-paced environment to provide financial rigor;
  • Ad hoc requests.

What you'll need:
  • ACA/ACCA.
  • Experience with multi-currency consolidations and exposure to the reporting issues and environment of large, preferably multinational, organisations.
  • Proven track record of effective management in a fast-paced environment with challenging deadlines.
  • Experience in Public Accounting.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley rules and regulations.
  • Rigorous analytical skills, accuracy with figures, and exercise sound judgment in decision making.
  • Ability to communicate with people tactfully and effectively as there is significant correspondence with various operating companies within the WPP network and senior management.
  • Sound project management skills - able to meet multiple deadlines under pressure.
