Hill & Knowlton has an immediate opening for a seasoned Senior Account Executive, Consumer Markets to join two incredible accounts in our Consumer Sector. This is a terrific opportunity on two exciting global accounts - a leading audio streaming platform and leading sportswear brand. Do you enjoy sports? Do you enjoy entertainment and consumer tech? This role will support a variety of projects on both accounts and interact daily with client teams and Hill & Knowlton account staff, as well as the ability to collaborate with various Hill & Knowlton practices. This role requires an individual who is proactive, capable of blending trends and culture into meaningful PR strategies, understands the media landscape and what editors / reporters need today, willing to dream-up fresh ideas to marry client campaigns with what is happening across digital culture. And most importantly, you are detail-oriented and eager to learn!

The core focus of this role will include working with account teams on both day-to-day and longer-lead client projects. In this role you are expected to play a part in strategic planning, implementation of campaigns, part of the media relations drum beat and able to take responsibility and run with it. You must be capable of providing unique insights and problem-solving guidance while working closely with your team to develop and execute campaigns. You must be able to manage people and effectively maintain best in class client service. This role will report into a Senior Account Manager.

Both accounts require fast decision-making, ability to prioritize, and the expectation that you maintain a thorough understanding of the media landscape.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Knowledgeable of sports, women's culture and streetwear as well as entertainment, audio and trends in earned media. You have a constant pulse on what's happening and are quick to identify the next rising athlete, creator oXr artist
  • You understand the evolving media landscape, looking to podcasts and digital channels (e.g., TikTok, Instagram) to round out PR strategies beyond traditional .com and broadcast
  • Experience working with celebrity and athlete campaigns and securing media interviews and media coverage
  • Best in class presentation skills - we are often expected to design and present PR ideas to internal client teams & stakeholders
  • The role will lead on one account's day-to-day Press Office efforts, and another's day-to-day brand and culture workstream
  • Managing, maintaining and growing media relationships
  • Responsible for staffing client events and meetings in-person and virtual
  • Mastery of client service best practices
  • Experience working on campaigns designed for Black and LatinX communities and consumers, as well as Gen Z/Alpha consumers
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills across a range of mediums (social media, long-form content, media materials/press releases, presentations, messaging etc.)
  • Experience managing projects from end-to-end, being solution oriented and always keeping in mind client goals
  • Preferred experience working on communications for a Fortune 100 and/or CPG company.
  • You're willing to work hard, but also know when to let loose and have fun
  • An understanding of how to mentor and guide junior staff

What you'll be doing:
  • Establishing strong relationships with clients
  • Approaching every project with a client excellence mindset and commitment to quality work that exceeds expectations
  • Contribute to generating fresh and smart ideas
  • Crafting thoughtful points of view and recommendations based on a broad understanding of consumer behavior, media relations and industry landscapes
  • Developing client messaging and developing compelling brand narratives to share across channels
  • Directly managing and mentoring a collaborative team of smart and enthusiastic PR professionals; ensuring deliverables are met.
  • Developing written materials, including reports, press releases, presentations, analyses, coverage recaps, and general client correspondence
  • Developing/consulting on earned media strategies, media lists, organizational partnerships, editorial calendars, conferences, and awards
  • Leading team and client meetings
  • Management of project budgets alongside an understanding of agency financial processes.

What you'll need:
  • 3-4 years of public relations experience; experience in sports, music, entertainment; consumer experience is a must . Note this role is more than just straight-forward sports - it must combine sport with equality, inclusions and the beat of culture
  • Strong consumer brand background and experience leading consumer campaigns for complex, global organizations
  • High level consumer media relations strategy and execution experience
  • Proven trusted client adviser: an active listener who builds strong partnerships and confidently offers counsel
  • Experienced in: Cision, Microsoft suite of tools, MuckRack, Brandwatch and Google Workspace (a plus)
  • Strategic thinker: understands our clients' business and communications challenges and develops smart, insight-driven strategies
  • Creative spark: brings a fresh perspective to our clients and develops ideas that challenge conventions
  • Growth mindset: proactively seeks opportunities to drive organic growth
  • Passionate: Lives and breathes the client's business. Understands the client's pain points. Is an abstract thinker comfortable with ambiguity; is curious, questions the status quo, and is an avid consumer of information
  • Operationally savvy: experienced at effectively managing multiple work streams and client budgets
  • People-centric: committed to the development of team members through active coaching and mentoring
  • Progressive mind-set: interested in evolving communications and the role of PR within the marketing mix; brave enough to try new approaches and adopt new technologies and willing to take calculated risks to do better and more meaningful work
  • Adaptable by nature with the ability to thrive under pressure and manage a variety of client contacts and priorities
  • Energy and passion to contribute to and help foster a fun, collaborative and thriving office culture

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $45,000 to $90,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
